Father Paul Halloran, the first chaplain of the St. Thomas More Newman Center, profoundly shaped our mission and the Catholic presence at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Installed in 1957, Fr. Halloran led the transformation from the Newman Club to the Newman Center and took the initiative to fundraise for our first dedicated facility. He served as chaplain until 1977, leaving a legacy that still resonates with us today.
In recognition of his extraordinary impact, our fellowship hall was named "Halloran Hall" when our new facility opened in 2015. This space, where most of our events and programs are held, stands as a tribute to his passion for building community and fostering spiritual growth.
For those who would like to make a gift in memory of Fr. Halloran, all donations will go towards supporting our Campus Ministry & Outreach Fund. This fund supports the vital work of strengthening our Catholic community through outreach events, retreats, mission trips, and theological discussions.
If you would like to contribute in memory of Fr. Halloran or learn more about the Campus Ministry & Outreach Fund, please contact Joe Bakken, Director of Mission Advancement, at 507-387-4154 or via email at [email protected].
As a special thank you, those who donate $1,000 or more will receive a commemorative mug featuring Fr. Halloran’s signature. As he often said, Cor ad Cor Loquitor—Heart speaks to heart.
